El pomponero reluciente o calzadito reluciente² (Eriocnemis vestita), es una especie de colibrí en la familia Trochilidae.

Distribución

Se encuentra en Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Venezuela.

Hábitat

Su hábitat natural son los bosques húmedos tropicales o subtropicales de montaña y los bosques antiguos muy degradados.

Glowing puffleg

The glowing puffleg (Eriocnemis vestita) is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae.

It is found in the Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, northern Peru and western Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forest and heavily degraded former forest.

These stunning hummingbirds might be confused with several other pufflegs. Both males and females have purple on the throat and on the undertail coverts, and have striking white leg puffs. Males are dark shining green above with a glowing lighter green rump. Females have buffy throats sparkling with purple dots and buffy chests spotted with green. Glowing Pufflegs are somewhat elusive and don’t often stay in sight for long. They hover or briefly cling onto small tubular flowers as they gather nectar from low shrubs. Glowing Pufflegs are often quite territorial and defend flowers, but sometimes they simply visit flowers frequently and aren’t preoccupied with guarding them. These hummingbirds are found in upper montane forests, openings in highlands pastures, and in shrubby areas in between woodland and páramo habitats.
